Cylinders
Gauges are tools with no scale, which are used for measuring sizes, shapes, and determination of the position of product surfaces in relation to one another. There are go-no-go gauges and normal gauges. Normal gauges are used to check measurements of complex surfaces. Go-no-go gages include go-on and no-go parts; they are meant for checking cylindrical, thread, spline and conical surfaces. In the course of manufacture of gauges, observance of Taylor’s principle is mandatory: a go-on gauge must be a prototype of the mating part and measure its size along the entire surface of connection with due consideration of the nonlinearity of its shape. Types of go-no-go gages include caliper gauge, thread plug gauge, plug gauge, thread ring gauge, etc.
